This little book is very interesting for those interested in Nathaniel Hawthorne and his life and works. It was written by James Fields who In 1839 joined William Ticknor and became junior partner in the publishing and bookselling firm known after 1846 as Ticknor and Fields, the publishers of most of Hawthorne's novels, After 1868 the publisher was known as Fields, Osgood & Company also a major publisher of Hawthorne.
