Thomas Campbell was a Scottish poet that lived from 1777-1844. He was a contemporary of Sir Walter Scott. He is known for his literary ballads as well as for some notable martial lyrics. These include 'Ye Mariners of England' and 'Hohenlinden', both of which are included in this volume. Campbell was quite influential in his time.
