With the death of Joseph Heller in 1999 America lost one of it most beloved authors. This is an excellent copy of the First Edition of Something Happened, Joseph Heller's first novel after Catch-22. The book is in at least Very Good+ condition with just a hint of wear to the bottom edge and a touch of fading to the very extreme top of the boards. The text block is absolutely clean and the binding is tight. The red coating on the top edge, which so often is seen in a mottled state with this title, is almost perfect. All corners are square. The dustjacket is Very Good+ with no rips or tears and it is not price-clipped. It is still bright and very striking. There is a touch of shelf-wear to the extreme top of the spine panel but no paper is missing. There is the tiniest lean to the book that is virtually unnoticeable and can be leaned right back by hand. Published in 1974 by Knopf, this is one of the major works of twentieth century literature. Something Happened is different than Catch-22 in both substance and tone and it is but another example of the incredible talent of this writer. The story deals with a very disfunctional family and its patriarch's behavior. It is funny as well as poignant. Great copy. We are happy to send pictures on request.
