Some editors of the New York Times wanted to fire him for his reports from Moscow and he was thrown out of Moscow for those same reports. The experience and intelligence of this writer comes through from start to finish in this beautiful volume. Published in 1988 this copy is in Very Fine condition. This beautiful book is bound in full leather with ornate gilt ornamentation to both boards as well as the spine. The spine has raised hubs in the tradition of classic bookbinding and there is a fine satin bookmark sewn-in to the book. This edition, published by the Franklin Library is gilt on all edges.
