This is the true First edition of John Mortimer's Summer's Lease. It is in Fine condition but for a couple of really tiny scratches to the gilt on the bottom edge. It is signed by Mr. Mortimer and it makes a wonderful presentation. John Mortimer is an English author who in this case sets his story in Tuscany, Italy, a very anglicized area of the country. Mortimer says that it is a world that beckons the visitor into a realm of mystery and good and evil that is far beyond the mundane concerns of contemporary England. This true First Edition was published by the Franklin Library in 1988. It is bound in full blue-green leather with raised hubs on the spine and gilt decoration on the spine and boards. It has a bound-in satin bookmark and marbled endpapers. We are pleased to send pictures on request.
