This Hard cover copy of 'White Jacket' is published by Northwestern University Press and is considered to be the authoritive edition of this great novel by Herman Melville. The book contains much bibliographic information regarding the first edition of White Jacket. There is a 96 page editiorial appendix at the rear of the volume. This book is for people who really want specific information on the books that they read. It also contains the full text of White Jacket. There are a couple of library stamps scattered through the book and one on the top-edge. The rear free endpaper is missing, probably torn out by someone trying to disguise the ex-lib nature of the book. The front and rear flaps are attached to the book itself. Having said all that, the book is in excellent condition. The textblock is clean and there is very little soiling to the dustjacket. These Northwestern-Newberry editions of Melville are all considered the best reference possible to his books. I am selling this one because I have an extra copy. This is very much a reference book and that's why I decided to sell it even though it is ex-lib. Apart from the library additions this volume looks brand new and will serve any Herman Melville reader or researcher very well.
