This Limited Deluxe edition from The Franklin Library is one of the more difficult Franklin Signed editions to find. The volume is one of the Franklin Deluxe Limited editions with the tissue guard protecting the signature of Allen Drury. It is bound in full leather with ornate gilt ornamentation to both boards as well as the spine. The spine has raised hubs in the tradition of classic bookbinding and there is a fine satin bookmark sewn-in to the book. This edition, published in 1977 by the Franklin Library, has gilt on all edges and the book has never been read. However,it was previously owned by an elderly lady who while respecting the books, did not store them properly and thus there is some mottling of the gilt to the fore-edge and the top edge is slightly dusted. Otherwise the book is in Fine condition. This volume runs to 714 pages. It contains a special introduction from Mr. Drury that appears in no other edition of this title. This offering also includes the 22 page booklet that accompanied the book on publication. Allen Drury was a premier political novelist of the twentieth century. Advise and Consent, first published in 1959 is his first work of fiction. It was a national bestseller for two years and it was adapted for stage and screen. Drury's story is of the very human people behind the great events of government. This novel has captured America's imagination in a way equaled by few books in our country's history. We are pleased to send pictures on request.
