Robin Cook is the author of many Medical suspense novels and Shock is another fine example of his talent at work. Two women who are grad students respond to a campus newspaper ad that promises to solve their financial problems. The advertiser is an exclusive, highly profitable fertility clinic that is willing to pay top dollar to a few attractive, slim, athletic Ivy-League egg donors. With the money from the clinic the women's circumstances change dramatically. They splurge on an extended trip to Venice. When they return they cannot resist the urge to check out the fate of their donated eggs and they are stymied by the clinic's iron veil of secrecy. They discover some disturbing irregularities at the clinic and the truth they ultimately discover far exceeds the worst that they had imagined. This volume is in fine condition with all corners square and a perfectly clean text-block. The dustjacket is also fine but there is a small mark to the upper right of the front panel. It appears that someone removed some sort of price label. It is hard to see and will be virtually invisible when I place the book in a protective mylar wrapper before shipping. The dustjacket is not price-clipped. This is a terrific suspense story that will give the reader a lot to think about. We are pleased to send pictures on request.
