This volume is the First Edition of James Joyce's Letters edited by Stuart Gilbert, a close friend of Joyce. Sixteen years after Joyce's death, this long awaited volume was published simultaneously in New York and London. The volume contains the character of an ever-astonishing Genius which is revealed in more than four hundred letters and notes from his own hand. They were written to the famous and the obscure, to other writers and publishers, and to personal intimates and relatives. This is an amazing collection in the First edition and it will show you sides of Joyce that you may not have been aware of before. The book is in virtually new condition with all corners square and gilt titling on the front board. The textblock is pristine and has no foxing. The dustjacket has a small missing piece of paper at the left extreme top of the front panel. There is a very small bit of chipping to the top end of the spine and even less to the bottom, The inner flaps are beautiful and the dustjacket is not price-clipped. This book is an essential for anyone interested in James Joyce and his works and personality. We are pleased to send pictures on request.
