This wonderful book is Quarto in size and would make a great coffee-table book. The book is in fine condition with extremely clean boards and spine. I mention this because the cloth that the book itself is bound in is a very light beige and would really show any staining. The spine is labeled in Gilt and the gilt is bright and beautiful. This is a true First edition. The dustjacket is very near fine with a tiny bit of shelfwear to the top of the spine panel which will be invisible once I put this volume into an archival dustjacket protector. Who but Life Magazine could bring us this remarkable collection of photographs, many rare or previously unseen, of the most important event in modern history. The book contains 665 illustrations culled from archives worldwide. The volume takes the reader on a journey from the escalating tensions of pre-World War 2 Europe to the shock of Pearl Harbor, through the land and sea campaigns across the globe, to the development of the atomic bomb and allied victory. This is a family keepsake volume as well as a work of compelling history.
