This book is still in the original publisher's shrinkwrap so forgive the slightly distorted picture. Shrinkwrap does not scan well. For more than two generations, Hustom Smith's classic The Worlds Religions has been the primary resource for understanding the Great Faiths, traditions, and religious practices of the world. The New York Times called it 'intelligent' and 'clearly written'. The Library Journal called it 'The Best one volume book on world religions' and Bill Moyers stated that it is 'the one book on world religions that I can't do without'. The religions are described from the perspective of its followers and on the inner dimensions of the religions. It talks about what makes them unique and why they have such a strong appeal to their adherents. This is a wonderful book in perfect condition. It can be read for pleasure or used as a dependable reference. A volume that should be in every well-balanced collection. This beautiful book is bound in full-tooled deep burgundy leather with satin moiré endpapers, satin ribbon bookmark and 22kt gold on the spine. The spine has raised bands in the style of classic bookbinding. Beautiful gilt designs ornament the front as well as the back boards. The paper was made especially for this edition. The leather was cut entirely by hand. It has raised bands on the spine in the style of classic bookmaking. It includes a certificate of authenticity and a descriptive card laid in with biographical information as well as a few words about the book itself. Published by Easton Press it is a volume of heirloom quality and will be treasured for generations to come.
