The Wandering Hill is the second volume of the four book series titled The Berrybender Narratives. There were seventy-five copies of this novel that were numbered and signed by Larry McMurtry. This copy is numbered 67 of seventy five. The book is in Very Fine condition with no flaws whatsoever. This is a very scarce book and it represents a wonderful investment in the most important writings of Mr. McMurtry since Lonesome Dove. The sweep and depth of the story of each of these narratives really defies description and although the entire series is one epic drama it would require a synopsis of each volume to share with you the excitement and adventure contained here. The tetralogy basically chronicles the adventures of a Great English sporting family, the Berrybenders, as they make their way through the American West in the years 1832-1836. Each individual novel is set on or beside the four Great rivers along which the family travels. These are the Missouri, the Yellowstone, the Rio Grande, and the Brazos. The journeys of Lewis and Clark are still a living memory. We meet Kit Carson as well as the great painter George Catlin. We encounter mountain men and trappers, fearsome Sioux warrior chiefs, slave traders and virtually any sort of character that you might imagine from the Old West. This novel is written with the wit and sagacity that only Larry McMurtry can muster and this signed numbered edition will be a terrific acquisition for the serious collector. There is humor, love, violence, intrigue, and of course, it is simply a Great read.#67 of 75. We are pleased to send pictures on request.
