This is another beautiful Leather volume from the Franklin Library. Published in 1986, Marya, A Life met with critical acclaim as one of Ms. Oates finest works. This copy is in Fine condition but for some very minor dusting of the bottom edge gilt. It is fairly difficult to see. The book is bound in full leather with raised hubs on the spine and a gilt graphic on the boards. It is very tight and crisp. It has a bound-in satin bookmark and a perfect Joyce Carol Oates signature. It also contains a special introduction to the First Edition written by Ms. Oates, which appears in no other edition of this book. Joyce Carol Oates has said that this book will very likely remain the most "personal" of her novels. Though it is not, in the strictest sense, autobiographical. She says that Marya was a very difficult book to write because it is both personal and fictional. This is a wonderful novel and certainly one of this author's best.
