Author Name Thomas, Dylan Title Adventures in the Skin Trade Binding Hard Cover Book Condition Near Fine Jacket Condition Near Fine Edition First Edition Size 8vo Publisher London Putnam 1955 Seller ID 000568 Several years before his death, Dylan Thomas began to write a novel that would not be strictly autobiograophical, but would bear a relation to the two parts of his experience. Those would be his own actions, and the actions of his dramatised self. Only the opening of this novel ever got written, and this is its first publication in book form. It is a unique fragment, fantastic in comedy, and rich with the poet's personality. Regarding the novel Thomas said "My novel blazes on. It's a mixture of Oliver Twist, Little Dorrit, Kafka, Beachcomber, and good old 3-adjectives-a-penny, belly churning Thomas, the Rimbaud of Cwmdonkin Drive". The book itself in in Fine condition but for a previous owner's name and a date to the ffep. The date is 1955 which is the year of publication. Otherwise the book is in Very Fine condition and the textblock is immaculate. The dustjacket is Near Fine with two tiny chips to the extreme top of the spine panel and some very minor soiling to the back panel. The dustjacket is not price-clipped and contains the original price of 9s 6d net. This is a lovely copy of a very fine piece of work. We are pleased to send pictures on request.
