'The Warden' is one of the great classics written by Anthony Trollope. It is a pleasant story about British ecclesiastical life in the time of Queen Victoria. It is a novel of domestic realism and the amiable style of the novel fits the leisurely existence it describes. A wonderful read! This is the centennial edition of The Warden. Only 1500 copies were printed in 1955 of which this is number 946. The book is in beautiful condition with a small pencil point size white spot on the outside extreme of the front board and near the top and a couple of very small and almost invisible spots below the illustration on the front board. There is very slight sunning to the spine and it is hard to see, The slipcase shows just a bit of wear with moderate sunning of the spine and some sunning to the perimimeter of the box, front and back. This fine offering was printed at the Marchbanks Press in 1955. The illustrations were done by Fritz Kredel and he signed the book on the colophon at the rear of the volume. The Limited Editions Club was founded in 1929. It was the creation of George Macy. Its purpose was to create very high quality versions of the classics that were also illustrated by the finest contemporary artists. All Limited Edition Club books are hand signed by the illustrators with a short description of the making of the book on the colophon in the rear of the volume. Only a few were published without a signature because the illustrator had passed away before publication. All LEC books come with a fine decorative slipcase and the great majority of them contain original fine art within. They are finely constructed books printed by the best printers and on fine paper. They are highly collectible. We are pleased to send pictures on request.
