 | 1. | Faulkner, William Requiem for a Nun New York Random House 1951 First Edition Hard Cover Near Fine Very Good+ 8vo William Faulkner won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1950. Requiem for a Nun is one of his most notable achievements. This First Edition is in near-fine condition. The binding is tight and there is very little toning to the textblock. There is a tiny bit of sunning to the extreme top of the boards but it is almost invisible. The front board's outside corner has a small bump and a small indentation. Neither of these factors really detract from the beaty of this rare volume. The gilt in the lettering of the spine is still bright and beautiful. The dustjacket is on the high side of Very Good+. It is not price-clipped and the original price of $3.00 is present. There is some chipping to the extreme top of the spine panel and there is slight shelfwear to the bottom. There are a couple of very small chips to the lower right extremity of the front panel. All-in-all this volume is in wonderful condition. Requiem for a Nun was a startling departure from William Faulner's previous books in form. It is ostensibly a three act play but there is also much prose writing in the book. It is almost a combination of novel and play. It is considered to be a novel that is partly in dramatic form and it was published in 1951 as a sequel to Sanctuary which was published in 1931.
