1 Heller, Joseph God Knows - Limited
New York Knopf 1984 First Edition Limited Slip-Case - Hard Cover Fine Fine Signed by Author
When Joseph Heller passed away some time ago we lost one of our most original literary voices. This beautiful Limited First Edition from the author of Catch 22 is in near fine condition. Square corners, clean, tight and crisp. It was published by the Knopf in 1984 and has become quite scarce. It is bound in a Beautiful Rainbow cloth. The dustjacket is in Fine condition with no rips or creases. It is housed in a decorative slipcase that is also near fine. The case shows very minor soiling and a bit of toning from age. This edition was Limited to 350 copies of which this is #225. A beautiful Signed copy of an important novel! God Knows is the story of David, warrior king of Israel and father of Solomon. The book is incredibly funny as well as deeply moving. It seems that God owes David an apology and as he lies on his deathbed he is waiting for it. He looks back on his long life. He rants, he jokes, he grieves, he talks poetry, he talks dirty and he holds nothing back. A really nice copy. We are pleased to send pictures on request.

2 Heller, Joseph Good as Gold Limited
New York Simon & Schuster 1977 First Edition Limited Slip-Case - Hard Cover Fine No Jacket Signed by Author
This volume is a Limited First Edition in fine unread condition that was published in 1976 by Simon and Schuster. There were 500 copies of this book printed of which this is #60. This item is striking in every way. The book is housed in a very bright yellow slipcase that is printed on both sides . The slipcase is in excellent condition and only shows some slight shelf wear to the very bottom of the box. The book itself is bound in decorated cloth and has the stars of the American Flag on both the front and back covers. It is tight and clean. In Good As Gold Joseph Heller did for the White House what he did for the military in Catch-22. He captures the fractured logic of the Potomac with an absurd and moving accuracy. We are happy to send pictures on request.

3 Heller, Joseph No Laughing Matter
New York Putnam 1986 First Edition Cloth Fine Fine Signed by Author
This is the story of Joseph Heller's struggle against Guillain-Barre syndrome. The book is in Very Near Fine condition and appears to have never been read. The textblock is clean and the binding is tight. The front lower corner of the front board is slightly bumped with a much smaller corresponding bump to the outer right corner of the rear board. The dustjacket is also Near Fine with the slightest hint of a crease to the extreme top of the front inner flap. It is virtually unnoticeable. The dustjacket is not price-clipped. Joseph Heller, author of Catch-22, Something Happenned, Good as Gold, and many other fine works has signed this book directly on the title page. Laid-in is the announcement of the signing at the Harvard Book Store where this book was autographed. Guillain-Barrer syndrome is a debilitating, sometimes fatal condition that can leave it's victims paralyzed from head to toe. This book is an inspiring, hilarious memoir of calamitous illness and the rocky road to recuperation. It is as great hearted as anything that this deceased author ever wrote. We are happy to send pictures on request.

4 Heller, Joseph Now and Then: From Coney Island to Here
New York Knopf 1998 First Edition Proof Trade Paperback Fine No Jacket
Now, more than Fifty years after Catch-22 exploded into the world's consciousness Heller has decided to show us his life. Here in his Coney Island childhood, down the block from what was the world's most famous amusement park. It was the height of the depression, it was a fatherless family, yet little Joey Heller had a terrific time on the boardwalk, in the ocean (dangerously out of his depth), playing follow-the-leader in and out of local bars and even in school. Then a series of jobs, the Air Force, college, and then the spectacular success of Catch-22 launching one of the great literary careers of the twentieth century. Now and Then will fascinate Heller's fans and give pleasure to everyone for whom Coney Island remains a glorious symbol of fun, fantasy, and a more innocent world. Fine Proof copy published before the First edition. Proofs are printed before the First edition in very limited quantities and are always more rare than the First edition. Tight and unread with a slight crease to the upper left corner of the back panel. It does not detract. A beautiful proof.

5 Heller, Joseph Something Happened
New York Knopf 1974 First Edition Cloth Very Good+ Very Good+
With the death of Joseph Heller in 1999 America lost one of it most beloved authors. This is an excellent copy of the First Edition of Something Happened, Joseph Heller's first novel after Catch-22. The book is in at least Very Good+ condition with just a hint of wear to the bottom edge and a touch of fading to the very extreme top of the boards. The text block is absolutely clean and the binding is tight. The red coating on the top edge, which so often is seen in a mottled state with this title, is almost perfect. All corners are square. The dustjacket is Very Good+ with no rips or tears and it is not price-clipped. It is still bright and very striking. There is a touch of shelf-wear to the extreme top of the spine panel but no paper is missing. There is the tiniest lean to the book that is virtually unnoticeable and can be leaned right back by hand. Published in 1974 by Knopf, this is one of the major works of twentieth century literature. Something Happened is different than Catch-22 in both substance and tone and it is but another example of the incredible talent of this writer. The story deals with a very disfunctional family and its patriarch's behavior. It is funny as well as poignant. Great copy. We are happy to send pictures on request.
