Burroughs, William Letters to Allen Ginsberg 1953-1957 New York Full Court Press 1982 First Edition Cloth As New As New The birth of the "Beat" movement in literature could not have occurred without William Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg. Burroughs is perhaps best known for his novel Naked Lunch and the prolific Allen Ginsberg was the author of Howl among many other important works of modern poetry. This book is in Fine condition and it has never been read. It includes a photo frontispiece as well as a preface by William Burroughs and a six-page writing by Allen Ginsberg called "Recollections of Burroughs Letters". The letters are informal and informative and they give us a real glimpse into the personality and quirks of William Burroughs. They were written at a time when Burroughs was trying to get off drugs in Tangiers and was writing Naked Lunch. A wonderful read and an important addition to any collection with an emphasis on this period of Literature. We are pleased to send pictures on request. Price:

Burroughs, William Naked Lunch New York Grove Press 1966 1st Thus Mass Market Paperback Near Fine No Jacket Here is one of the three Great classics from the "Beat" writers. They are Naked Lunch by William Burroughs, On the Road by Jack Kerouac, and Howl by Allen Ginsberg. Although this title is originally dated 1959 on the copyright page of the first hardcover as well as this paperback first,I have been made to understand that due to the suppression of the book it was not actually published until 1962 in the first edition. Naked Lunch is a work of depraved genius. This copy of the book is near fine with clean red coating to all edges and some very light soiling of the wraps, most noticeable on the back panel but even this is very light. There are no creases to the spine and the book appears to have been unread because it is very tight in it's wraps. Bound in the center of the book there is a business reply card and a two page card that explains what 'The Underground' is and names writers who are part of it such as Samuel Beckett and Harold Pinter. It is an explanation of why you should 'Join the Underground' and subscribe to the long gone Evergreen Magazine which was a revolutionary publication.Considering it's age and it's format this is a really nice copy of this classic work. It is a major work of 20th century fiction and an important work in literary history. We are pleased to send pictures on request. Price:
