1 Schulberg, Budd What Makes Sammy Run?
Norwalk, CT Easton Press 1st Thus Full-Leather As New No Jacket Signed by Author
Budd Schulberg was born into a family that helped create the movie business. His father ran Paramount Pictures with great success until he was pushed out of his job in the 1930's. Budd excelled as a screenwriter and contributed to such films as "A Star is Born". He loved the movies but not the business. He put his love, his insider's knowledge, and his rage into this wonderful novel. The novel tells the story of the ruthless and unscrupulous Sammy Glick. What Makes Sammy Run was a huge bestseller and is considered today by many to be the Greatest novel ever written about Hollywood. Schulberg is a novelist, sportswriter, social activist and screenwriter. He is known for his independence and his idealism. Schulberg won the Academy Award in 1954 for the screenplay to "On The Waterfront". He also wrote the novels The Disenchanted, The Harder They Fall and the memoirs Moving Pictures and Sparring With Hemingway. As always with Easton Press books, This beautiful book is bound in full-tooled leather with satin moiré endpapers, satin ribbon bookmark, and 22kt gold on the spine. The paper was made especially for this edition. The leather was cut entirely by hand. It includes a certificate of authenticity and a 4x6 card laid in with biographical information as well as a few words about the book itself. It is a volume of heirloom quality and will be treasured for generations to come. We are pleased to send pictures on request.
