This book is still in the original Publishers shrinkwrap. Annie Proulx is an American author. Her second novel, 'The Shipping News' won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction and the national Book Award for fiction in 1994, and was made into a film in 2001. She also wrote the short story 'Brokeback Mountain'. The story centers on a newspaper man from New York whose father had emigrated from Newfoundland. His estranged wife sells their daughters to a Black Market adoption agency for $6000. Soon later his ex-wife and her lover are killed in a car accident and the young girls are found and returned to Quoyle, the main character. Despite the safe return of his daughters, Quoyle's life is falling apart he returns to his ancestral home of Newfoundland for a new beginning. As always with Easton Press books, this beautiful book is bound in full-tooled leather with satin moiré endpapers, satin ribbon bookmark, and 22kt gold on the spine. The paper was made especially for this edition. The leather was cut entirely by hand. It includes a certificate of authenticity and a 4x6 card laid in with biographical information as well as a few words about the book itself. It is a volume of heirloom quality and will be treasured for generations to come.
