Gifted Trust, Allen, John Paul
1 Allen, John Paul Gifted Trust
Duluth Georgia Biting Dog Press 2003 First Edition Trade Paperback As New No Jacket 8vo Signed by Author
Here is a wonderful addition to the genre of Horror novels. It is a First edition in the original wraps and is in the form of a large trade paperback. It is signed directly on the title page by the author, John Paul Allen, the editor, Nancy Collins, and the cover artist, Alan M. Clark. This is one of only fifty copies that were signed this way for promotional purposes. Also included with this volume is a publisher's promotional card that was issued for the first edition. The book is in as new condition and it has never been read. The plot deals with a head coach at an alternative high school in Texas. Few people realize that he is fighting the embraces of a dark side compelling him to fulfill its evil desires. The three main characters are separated by seven decades through the power of "Virago", whose indestructible evil manifests itself within each as it seeks domination of their souls. John Paul Allen takes us into a world where death only delays the inevitable. A journey of one soul through three lives brings us to a new level of horror. Nightmare Town, Hammet, Dashiell
13 Hammet, Dashiell Nightmare Town
New York Knopf 1999 First Edition Proof Wraps Near Fine No Jacket 8vo
From the author of 'The Maltese Falcon" this proof contains twenty long unavailable stories. It is very rare to see a proof from an author of this caliber. Obviously published posthumously, this proof is in very good + condition with a small crease to the lower right corner of the front panel. Light creasing on the front and rear wraps but a really nice copy. Proofs are published in small quantities before the first edition and are therefore more scarce than the first edition. A man on a bender enters a small town and ends up unraveling the dark mystery of it's heart. Sam Spade confronts the darkness in the human soul while rolling his own cigarettes. In Hammet's first study for 'The Thin Man' John Guild takes on a murder case in which almost every witness may be lying. The proof appears to have never been read and despite some creasing it is very collectible. This is the author's third collection of Masterful stories clearly indicating the author's success. His most famous work is surely 'The Maltese Falcon". A Wonderful proof.

Something Happened, Heller, Joseph
14 Heller, Joseph Something Happened
New York Knopf 1974 First Edition Cloth Very Good+ Very Good+ 8vo
With the death of Joseph Heller in 1999 America lost one of it most beloved authors. This is an excellent copy of the First Edition of Something Happened, Joseph Heller's first novel after Catch-22. The book is in at least Very Good+ condition with just a hint of wear to the bottom edge and a touch of fading to the very extreme top of the boards. The text block is absolutely clean and the binding is tight. The red coating on the top edge, which so often is seen in a mottled state with this title, is almost perfect. All corners are square. The dustjacket is Very Good+ with no rips or tears and it is not price-clipped. It is still bright and very striking. There is a touch of shelf-wear to the extreme top of the spine panel but no paper is missing. There is the tiniest lean to the book that is virtually unnoticeable and can be leaned right back by hand. Published in 1974 by Knopf, this is one of the major works of twentieth century literature. Something Happened is different than Catch-22 in both substance and tone and it is but another example of the incredible talent of this writer. The story deals with a very disfunctional family and its patriarch's behavior. It is funny as well as poignant. Great copy. We are happy to send pictures on request.

Swan Thieves, The, Kostova, Elizabeth
15 Kostova, Elizabeth Swan Thieves, The
New York Little Brown Company 2010 First Edition Cloth As New As New 8vo Signed by Author
From the author of 'The Historian' the most creative vampire story that I have ever read. This is a First edition and First printing of this wonderful novel. The book is signed on the title page. This offering is in Fine condition with all corners square and no bumps or dings. The dustjacket is also Fine and it is not price clipped. A beautiful book. This is a book about obsession and Art.. Andrew Marlow, a psychiatrist, has a perfectly ordered life--solitary, perhaps, but full of devotion to his profession and the painting hobby he loves. This order is destroyed when the renowned painter Robert Oliver attacks a canvas in the National Gallery of Art and becomes Marlow's patient. When Oliver refuses to talk or cooperate, Marlow finds himself going beyond his own legal and ethical boundaries to understand the secret that torments this silent genius, a journey that will lead him into the lives of the women closest to Robert Oliver and toward a tragedy at the heart of French Impressionism. Moving from American museums to the coast of Normandy, from the late nineteenth century to the late twentieth, from young love to last love and the losses of history, and with the power of art to preserve human hope.
