Strange Sexual Practises in All Races of the World, Bloch, Dr. Iwan
3 Bloch, Dr. Iwan Strange Sexual Practises in All Races of the World
New York Falstaff Press 1933 First Edition Limited Hard Cover Good+ No Jacket 8vo
This unusual book was limited to 5000 copies printed and this is number 3595. The volume is in Good + to Very Good minus condition and shows wear to the boards as well as the extremities. The spine is very faded but can still be read. This is a scarce book. The title page of the book mentions that it is 'intended for 'Circulation among Mature Educated Persons only'. It is truly a strange book with a very complete table of contents and a very wide variety of subjects. Published in 1933 it reflects the attitudes of that time. There is a dedication page to Havelock Ellis 'considered the modern world's most civilized man' and a quote from him that reads 'I regard sex as the central problem of life'. The book is amusing to say the least. The textblock is very clean and the volume is holding together well. There is a touch of toning to the pages from age but it is very light. For the collector of the quaint and different!

Lives of the Painters - 4 Volumes, Canaday, John
4 Canaday, John Lives of the Painters - 4 Volumes
New York Norton 1969 1st/2nd Printing Hard Cover Fine Fine 8vo
This is a beautiful set of four volumes. The set is in Fine condition and almost new. This is the First Edition and the second printing. The only thing that I must mention is that each volume has the tiniest shelf-wear to the extreme top of the dustcover on the spine. It is virtually invisible and probably will become completely invisible when I place the books in an archival Brodart dust jacket protector before shipment. The set is magnificent. The Lives of the Painters is an important and fascinating history of Western painting and its artists written by the renowned historian and critic of the fine arts, John Canaday. In his incisive and engaging style, Canaday unfolds the history by means of biographical and critical essays on more than 450 individual painters. The four volumes cover the development of painting from the close of the Middle Ages in Italy down through Cezanne and his revolution in painting. There are 176 full color Plates, 350 monochrome illustrations and 1,456 pages in the four volumes. The fourth volume is completely plates and illustrations on fine gloss paper and they are absolutely beautiful. Again, the books are in virtually new condition and have clearly never been used. All dustjackets are present and this is a set that can entertain, educate, and be enjoyed by generations. We are pleased to send pictures on request.

5 de Sade, Marquis 120 Days of Sodom

It was from the Marquis de Sade that the word "Sadism" was derived. This is the first Grove edition of The 120 Days of Sodom and other writings. It is also the first printing. The book contains introductions by Simone de Beauvoir (The Second Sex) and Pierre Klossowski. The volume is large at 799 pages and the book itself shows a slight bump to the corner of the upper right front board and some minor shelfwear to the top of the spine. The dustjacket is not price-clipped and shows some slight shelf-wear and there is a chip to the upper left rear panel. There are also a couple of very small spots to the front edge. This is a very nice copy of a major classic of literature. We are pleased to send pictures on request.

Love and Desire, Ewing, William A.
6 Ewing, William A. Love and Desire
London Chronicle Books 1999 First Edition Trade Paperback Fine Fine 8vo
This volume is in Fine but for a small amount of creasing to the spine. It is in Trade Paperback format and it resides within a stiff plastic translucent slipcase. The volume is 400 pages of black and white as well as color photographs from the greatest photographers of the twentieth century. There is a 32 page introduction regarding the collection. Most of the photographs involve nudity. The photos are artistic and beautiful and the book makes a wonderful presentation as well as a discreet one. 'Love and Desire' has been called 'The Most extraordinary survey of human passion between covers'. It is a sequel to William A. Ewing's acclaimed photography collection 'The Body'. Here the highly regarded art critic and curator surveys 150 years of photographic history exploring how the camera has been used to express the elusive ideas and thoughts and sentiments related to the most powerful of human emotions. Erotic Art of the Masters 18th, 19th, 20th Centuries, Smith, Bradley
12 Smith, Bradley Erotic Art of the Masters 18th, 19th, 20th Centuries
Torino, Italy Erotic Art Book Society 1974 First Edition Hard Cover Fine Fine 4to
Here, for the first time, is a gallery of the most important erotic paintings of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. The most skillful and creative painters in every era have produced this type of living art. The Masters of each era have reflected individual characteristics, but erotic art has never become dated or out of fashion. This volume is in very fine condition as is its dustcover but for the tiniest bit of shelf-wear to the extreme top of the spine. It is virtually invisible. There is also a really tiny bit of wear to the upper right corner of the front panel of the jacket. Neither of these detract at all from the beauty of the book. There is an introduction by Henry Miller and the book is fully indexed. There is also a complete listing in the rear of the book that references each painting, the country that it came from and bibliographical information as to exactly where the painting resides. Previous to all this is a full bibliography for reference. The endpapers are stunning and are different in the front than they are in the rear. The book contains 207 pages including the colophon. Here we find such artists as Picasso, Manet, Renoir, Dali, Warhol, Toulouse-Latrec, Degas, and many, many more. The paper is glossy and beautiful and the pictures are color as well as monochrome. Most are in color. This is a beautiful book that will provide years of perusing and enjoyment.
